MEMIC Promotes Torrey to Production Underwriter

PORTLAND, ME, January 8, 2018 – To support continued growth within the Connecticut market, workers' compensation specialist The MEMIC Group has announced the promotion of Ian Torrey to the position of Production Underwriter.

Torrey, a native of Hartford, Connecticut, joined The MEMIC Group in 2015 as an Account Analyst and was promoted to Associate Underwriter in 2016. He has earned his Workers’ Compensation Professional (WCP®) designation and is working towards completion of his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) designation. Torrey graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics. Active in the community, he has been a volunteer firefighter and youth lacrosse coach.

"I love my job because we do more than sell workers’ comp insurance,” said Torrey. “We protect the way people make a living so they can live a better life. We protect people from loss. It's more than money, it's livelihood and quality of life. Helping people avoid injuries and recover from them if they do occur, that is amazingly powerful and meaningful."
