MEMIC Policyholders Elect Three New Board Members; Graffam Elected New Board Chairman

PORTLAND, Maine, June 14, 2004 – At the Annual Meeting of the Policyholders on Monday, June 14, at the Portland Museum of Art, three new directors were elected to the Board of Directors of Maine Employers' Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC). Jolan Ippolito of Rumford Point, S. Catherine Longley of Brunswick, and P.D. Merrill of Yarmouth were elected to three-year terms as policyholder members of the company's Board of Directors.

In addition, earlier in the day, the Company's Board of Directors voted to elect Ward I. Graffam, of Portland and Camden, as Chairman. Graffam is a veteran of the insurance industry where he ended his 30-year career with UNUM as President and Managing Director of UNUM European Holding Company in London, England.

Ippolito is Vice President for Risk Management for American Skiing Company. She previously served on MEMIC's Board of Directors and was an incorporator of the company. Longley is Senior Vice President for Finance at Bowdoin College and a former Commissioner of the Maine Department of Financial and Professional Regulation under Governor Angus King. Merrill is President of Merrill Transport Co. and Merrill Industries, Inc. of Portland and is a well-known community and business leader in Greater Portland.
