Susan Diffenderfer

Safety Management Consultant, PT

Healthcare PA

“As a Physical Therapist, I can’t emphasize enough the importance of body mechanics and movement in our daily lives and just as you would train for any sport, safety skills at work need to be practiced both mentally and physically. As an experienced health care provider and manager, I understand the stresses and demands that caring for others brings. With proper education, materials and encouragement—safety can enhance the productivity and efficiency needs of the workplace.”

Susan joined The MEMIC Group in 2018 as a Safety Management Consultant. She is a licensed Physical Therapist with 30 years of experience practicing in specialty areas including industrial health, geriatric care and wound care. She has experience across the continuum of care including home health, acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, personal care, hospital and outpatient settings.

Prior to MEMIC, she was a facility rehabilitation manager, as well as a regional rehabilitation manager for a large contract provider. She has taken an active role in education, training and quality assurance including on site in-service programs, one-on-one caregiver education, high school programs and regional conference presentations. Susan has also consulted with long-term care facilities on patient care and safety, documentation, reimbursement and development of policies and procedures.

Susan graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology and from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. She has held specialty certification as a wound care specialist and an emergency medical technician.
