Portland, Maine — The MEMIC Group, the third-largest multi-state workers’ compensation specialist in the United States, announced the appointment of Jim Keck as the Regional Vice President for the Eastern Region, effective March 9, 2026. Keck succeeds Jeff Funk, who will be retiring after 20 years of distinguished service.

Keck will oversee MEMIC’s Eastern Region, which spans from Vermont to Florida and includes Tennessee. He will be responsible for regional strategy, underwriting operations, and agency partnerships.

Keck joined MEMIC in 2016 as a Senior Production Underwriter, where he partnered with Massachusetts-based agents and helped grow the company’s Massachusetts book from approximately $10 million to $20 million in total written premium. In 2021, he was promoted to Territory Manager for the Northeast Region, overseeing underwriting operations across New York and New England, excluding Maine, and supporting regional growth from $113 million to $141 million.

Keck began his insurance career in 1999 with OneBeacon Insurance Group and moved into underwriting in 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, with a minor in Business Law, from Bentley University. He has also earned several professional designations, including the Certificate in General Insurance (INS), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Workers’ Compensation Professional (WCP®).
